Looking for a unique way to honor the dad’s in your life this year? Give him a lasting memory to go along with gifts geared toward his favorite hobby! Father’s Day is extra special for us this year since my hubby is now a daddy of two, so I wanted to think up some different things for us to do this year and I just love the idea of doing a fun Father’s Day activity tailored specifically to him- it creates memories & makes the day much more special for him. So here’s a list of fun ways to celebrate the day (and gifts to match!) to show the dad’s in your life how much they mean to you!
1. Take Him to Top Golf or Putt-Putt
If he loves golf this would be the perfect place to take him and the family! Top Golf would be more suitable for older children and putt-putt, of course, for younger kiddos.
Gift Ideas: Smart Watch, Liquid IV, Beef Sticks, UA Polo Shirt, Cooling Towel, Travel Mug, Adidas Hat, Golf Trunk Organizer
2. Go to a Baseball Game
There’s nothing that says “dad” more than sports, beer, and ballpark food, am I right? Take him to a ball game to watch his favorite team!
Gift Ideas: Baseball Cap, Sunglasses, Jersey, TV, Can/Bottle Holder, Cracker Jacks
3. Hit the Trail
If he’s more of the adventurous type, he might enjoy going for a hike or bike ride. You can bring snacks and stop along the trail for a picnic.
Gift Ideas: Lifestraw Water Bottle, Sneakers/No-Tie Laces, UPF 50+ Shirt, GPS Watch, Trail Mix, Freeze Dried Meals, Picnic Backpack
4. Go to the Drive-In
If your lucky enough to have a drive-in theater nearby and your guy is a movie buff this definitely puts a unique spin on the movie watching experience, if not, you can always set up a projector and watch a movie in your backyard. Take a few pillows, a blanket, and your favorite movie snacks with, just make sure dad picks the flick.
Gift Ideas: Popcornopolis, Theatre Candy, Coffee Mug, Couch Pillow, T-Shirt, Projector
5. BBQ
Host a barbeque and invite all of dad’s closest friends. He can grill if that’s something he enjoys doing and everyone can play lawn games or go swimming if there’s a pool!
Gift Ideas: Salt Block, Cookbook, Brush, Hot Sauces, Rubs, Grill Brush, Dartboard, Giant Jenga, Spikeball, Shot Glass Ice Mold, Cigar Lighter, Freezable Beer Glasses
6. Rent a Boat or Jet Skis
If dad loves the water he would have so much fun spending the day on the lake! Depending on what he prefers, you could rent a boat either for fishing, water skiing, or just relaxing on the water. Or skip the boat altogether and rent some jet skis if that’s more his jam.
Gift Ideas: Yeti Cooler, Fishing Rod & Accessories, Waterproof Phone Pouch, Giant Party Float, Soap Bar, Bluetooth Speaker, RC Boat, Water Guns
7. Stay In & Play Games
If the weather isn’t the greatest or dad is more of a homebody, spending a relaxing day inside playing cards and boardgames would be a great way to reconnect. You can bring back some of his favorite childhood games or he can teach you some new card games to play. If video games are more his thing, he may appreciate a retro gaming system you can all play together.
Gift Ideas: Cards, Apples To Apples, CAH Dad Pack, PJs, Hims Set, Massage Gun, Coffee Mug, Candy/Flask Gift Set
8. Go to the Race Track
This could either be a car track (dirt, drag strip, etc.) or a horse track! The horse races may also a good option if you have really young children and the loud cars scare them. If dad enjoys gambling a little he will for sure love this!
Gift Ideas: Wallet, Keychain, Play Mat Massage T-Shirt, Horse Races Tee
9. Go Camping
Taking dad on a camping trip is the ultimate outdoorsy gift. You can either rent an RV, cabin, or rough it in a tent, take bikes or fishing poles, and tell scary stories and make s’mores around the campfire!
Gift Ideas: Pocket Knife, Tactical Bracelet, Flashlight, Fishing Rod & Accessories
10. Take a Road Trip
If the dad you’re celebrating is anything like mine and loves to drive, a road trip would be the greatest gift ever! You can make stops along the way for snacks and just celebrate dad all weekend long by driving to and exploring someplace new. Rent an Airbnb and research some fun local activities and restaurants!
Gift Ideas: Wallet, Packing Cubes, GoPro, Mad Libs, Road Bingo, Stash Can, Phone Mount, Duffel Bag, Aviator Sunglasses
It can be difficult trying to figure out the perfect gift, so if nothing else I hope this gave you some inspiration and guidance on what to get the men in your life. Also, feel free to add on to this list in the comments down below!
